Color Exercise 5: Choosing Color by Value and Painting by Shape

1.  I determined the correct value for each of my colors using my five step gray scale.  I use either a five step or a seven step gray scale that I painted with oil paint.

2.  Spending no more than 10 minutes, I drew a contour sketch of the hay bales across the street.   I simplified, looking carefully at the shape of values rather than the shape and outline of the objects.  Squinting helps me to simplify and see shapes more clearly.

3.  Having determined the correct value for each of my colors, I spent no more than fifteen minutes applying color to my contour drawing.
